With reference to your letter No. 4387 of the 23rd February and previous correspondence respecting the proposed new law courts for Hong Kong, I have the honour

to forward a set of eleven drawings of the proposed buildings, and enclosure of the same, I also enclose Mr Cooper's original drawings and the five mounted original sketches for the buildings which you previously returned to us, as well as a copy of a memorandum by the
Consulting Architects explaining the designs now forwarded. In accordance with the desire expressed in paragraph 3a of the Governor's despatch No 78 of the 18th March 1898 that the estimates should be prepared locally, we have requested the Architects not to take out the quantities,
not with the exception of the ironwork design out in full detail. They inform us however that in getting out the drawings they found it necessary to carefully go into the question of ironwork and to make details
Hence they have worked out their construction, and as this has been done we have asked them to furnish us with the details for transmission
